Curriculum
Preschool Pathways proudly offers the Preschool Partners curriculum, developed by the founders of The Classical Academy (TCA). While we are not officially associated with TCA, this program is an ideal choice for those looking for a preschool with similar values and philosophies.
We focus on building a strong foundation for learning through guided exposure to complex topics.
Pre-Math
The all-too-common “mathphobia” that develops as children progress through school is often due to them finding the concept of numbers too abstract. At Preschool Pathways, we take a very hands-on approach to teaching the concept of number quantities. Children practice correspondence daily and are frequently exposed to word problems without the standard testing pressure of traditional school.

Pre-Reading
Our curriculum teaches a pre-reading program that focuses on phonemic awareness. Understanding the phonemes, or each individual sound in a word, is the first step in learning how to read. Our phonemic awareness-based method is a more streamlined approach to the beginning phases of reading, focusing more on the identification, blending, and segmenting of each letter’s sound than on the name of the letter itself. G.R. Lyon found in his 1995 study that “the best predictor of reading difficulty in kindergarten or first grade is the inability to segment words and syllables into constituent sound units.” Preschool Pathways builds a strong phonemic foundation, minimizing reading frustration down the road.
A-B Rotating Topics
Because Preschool Pathways is a two-year program, the science and history topics rotate on an A-B schedule. This allows the teachers to use the same curriculum equipment for both the morning and afternoon classes, while ensuring that your child will encounter different science and history topics each year. Our goal with both science and history to provide a guided exposure to topics that the kids will be presented with in future academic years. At this age, their brains are little sponges, and each topic that they are exposed to will create a neural pathway. We do not expect mastery of any of these concepts at the preschool level, but merely encountering these complex topics now will create a pathway in their brains that will lead to an easier time learning these concepts in elementary school.

Science and History
Children are exposed to a plethora of science topics, from the solar system to photosynthesis! Our curriculum songs and kinesthetic activities allow the kids to experience each concept through several different senses.

Many of our history and science topics culminate in a “curriculum day” where the children get to dress up and travel through time and space to experience the subject at hand. From Ancient Greece to the Moon, these “field trips through time” are always some of our favorite days!
