Environment

At Preschool Pathways, we believe in nurturing young minds through play-based learning. Our dedicated team of educators creates a safe and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. With a focus on social, emotional, and cognitive development, we strive to prepare our students for a successful transition to elementary school.

Christian Worldview

We have chosen to describe our program as one that offers a “Christian environment”. What we mean is that this program is not intended to look and feel like a church Sunday School program. We don’t block out a specific amount of time each day for scripture memory or Bible stories. We are trusting your church to help you with that. However, you should be aware that we do incorporate a Christian world view into the fabric of our program. Our history time line begins with Creation. We actually will memorize some Scripture at times. It’s just not the focus of our time with the kids. We also seize teachable moments to address concepts like forgiveness and grace from a Christian perspective. Christmas and Easter focus on Christ rather than Santa and the Bunny.

Content Without Pressure

Our goal is to stimulate curiosity through exposure to history, science, and other rich content. However, we believe that evaluating children at this young age creates pressure. In contrast to other schools that may be academically focused, we will invite your child to explore a wide array of subjects in a fun, interactive style without assessing the child’s retention of the material. We will be encouraging divergent and expansive thinking, and stimulating their natural fascination with their world using hands-on activities.

Play with a Purpose

Studies show that imagination and creativity are adversely impacted by formal education because of its focus on convergent rather than divergent thinking. Out of necessity, a quality elementary school will need to teach students information that requires students to respond with the correct answer (convergent thinking). Knowing the elementary years are quickly approaching, you can mitigate the damage with creativity enhancing activities and questioning which will lead to many possible responses (divergent thinking). Your child’s day will be filled with fun, game-like activities which will enhance your child’s brain integration, creativity, phonemic awareness, and school readiness using art, music, motor activities, and get-dirty experiences; play with a purpose.
